The Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation (SWMHF) was approved as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project by the State Economic Development Commission (EDC) in November. This designation allows donors of $250 or more to the Foundation to claim a 25% State tax credit and a 12.5% State tax credit on in-kind donations. This credit is in addition to the Federal tax deduction for contributing to any 501 (c)(3) organization.
The SWMHF works to support Southwest Health System infrastructure, program, and service lines. This specific EZ project will work to raise funds for large ticket medical equipment needs at their Cortez location. As a rural level IV trauma center, the hospital provides emergency, primary and specialty care.
"The Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation is thrilled at the approval of the Enterprise Zone Contribution Project, said Abby Nuetzel, President of Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Having the EZ tax credit will help foster community donations to ensure continued quality healthcare services at Southwest Health System for residents and visitors to the Four Corners. Please contact the foundation on how you can help and earn the EZ Colorado tax credit before the year end.”
Currently, 29 EZ projects are designated in Southwest Colorado. A list of eligible projects and program information is available at www.region9edd.org. For more information on the Foundation, go to www.swhealth.org/southwest-memorial-hospital-foundation/.
